On June 6, the 12th Fish Releasing Day of China, a fishery resources enhancement activity was held along the Qianshuiwan Business Street in SIP. A total of 5.3 million young fish, including silver carp, bighead carp and topmouth culter, were released into Yangcheng Lake.

All the fry had passed strict quarantine, and notaries supervised the weighing, counting, and releasing process. The released fish hatchlings are expected to help control plankton and regulate fish population structure, thereby maintaining ecological balance across the lake.

This year marks the 19th consecutive year of Suzhou’s efforts to replenish fishery resources in Yangcheng Lake. According to monitoring data, the number of fish species in the lake’s germplasm resource reserve increased from 17 to 41 between 2020 and 2025.
